Tanja Brueckl studied Psychology at the University of Regensburg, Germany and Wesleyan University, USA. She joined the Max-Planck-Institute of Psychiatry in 2002 and received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2007 from the University of Basel, Switzerland. Since then she is working as a scientist in the research group "Molecular Psychology" at the Max Planck Institute. Her research primarily focuses on gene-environment interactions in regard to depression and the treatment of depression. Her work includes a randomized placebo-controlled trial testing augmentation therapy in treatment-resistant depression and an epidemiological study. She is currently conducting a clinical ABCB1-(p-glycoprotein) study which examines the efficacy of genotype-dependent treatment strategies in depression.
